Travis Pointe Country Club Announces a $6+ Million Clubhouse Renovation and Golf Course Enhancement
Strategic investment will revitalize club's key touchpoints, broaden membership appeal
By Brian Weis
Travis Pointe Country Club, the distinguished member-owned private golf and lifestyle club in Ann Arbor with a rich, nearly-half-century history, proudly announces a transformative multi-million renovation project aimed at enhancing its member experience through comprehensive upgrades to the clubhouse and golf course.
This landmark investment reflects the club's dedication to offering world-class amenities while fostering a vibrant and welcoming club culture for every member of the family. Travis Pointe, former host site of the LPGA's Volvik Championship, has long been ahead of the curve on cultural and lifestyle trends and responsive to the needs of today's club members. For example, the club is already home to a well-pedigreed golf course (that has hosted numerous prestigious professional and amateur events), indoor golf simulators, world-class indoor and outdoor racquets and swimming facilities, and an elevated dining experience under the direction of the award-winning Chef Jason Berthold.
This multi-million-dollar project will set the tone for the next generation of Travis Pointe members who seek an engaging, endearing member culture, top-tier club amenities, and activity programming for every member of the family. In 2027, Travis Pointe will celebrate its 50th anniversary, with the look, facilities, and energy of a brand-new property.
"We're thrilled to bring our members, and prospective members from the community, an exciting new chapter in Travis Pointe history with these exceptional renovations and property upgrades," said Kori Isaac, General Manager of Travis Pointe Country Club. "What's exciting is that every project and touchpoint is intentional and on-trend with what today's private club members want most. Our Board of Directors surveyed the membership to prioritize the scope of the renovations. Travis Pointe is going to be an even more attractive, luxurious 'second home' with an inviting elegance that brings pride and excitement to the community."
A MODERNIZED CLUBHOUSE WITH A REFINED FLAIR
Travis Pointe's revitalized clubhouse will have an entirely fresh aesthetic with an open design that shows off the new architectural features while transforming the dining room and bar area into an energetic centralized social gathering space. The artful reimagining of the grill room and bar space creates a sophisticated and inviting atmosphere in a centralized hub, ideal for socializing, special events and post-round celebrating.
Comus Consulting and The Alan Group has been chosen to lead the clubhouse enhancements, which will take place in phases from this year through the spring of 2026, and will include a modern, elegant sense of arrival with its redesigned porte-cochere and inviting front entrance. The exterior will feature lightened brickwork for a sleek, modern look.
Another improved use of space will be evident with the expansion of covered outdoor dining areas and open-air venues that will allow for elevated alfresco dining experiences and new ways for members to enjoy the clubhouse amenities.
Some of the most striking design enhancements on the Travis Pointe clubhouse effortlessly blend visual appeal with improved function and use of space, like the renovated dining rooms which feature a grand stairway off the back patio for improved access and a dose of wow factor. Refreshed and optimized banquet and event spaces are designed to make large group gatherings refined, memorable and operationally sound.
Travis Pointe is home to thriving tennis, junior golf, and youth swimming programs. The addition of a fifth outdoor tennis court will meet growing demand and make the club a desirable venue for more USTA-sanctioned events.
"We are committed to creating a vibrant Travis Pointe community that will thrive for the next 50 years," said Joe Golden, President of the Board of Directors. "These renovations are a testament to our members' support and dedication, ensuring a lasting legacy for future generations. With these enhancements, Travis Pointe, more than ever, will have this gravitational effect where people in the community look at the club as their favorite golf course, favorite place to dine with family and friends and the place they are proud to build lasting memories in for many, many years."
A BELOVED GOLF COURSE READIES FOR ITS NEXT GENERATION
Travis Pointe members are pleased that this renovation project includes golf course enhancements that aim to improve long-term course conditions, more pleasing sightlines and vistas across holes, playability for all skill levels, and sustainable maintenance practices on the celebrated par 72, 7,326 yard, 18-hole Bill Newcomb-designed layout.
Veteran golf course architect and Travis Pointe member Chris Wilczynski, of C.W. Golf Architecture, creator of distinguished designs at Esplanade at Azario Lakewood Ranch and Esplanade Golf & CC at Lakewood Ranch (both in Lakewood Ranch, FL), along with Esplanade Golf & CC of Naples (Naples, FL), and Red Hawk Golf Club in East Tawas, MI, will oversee golf course renovations at Travis Pointe. Notably, Wilczynski also led the comprehensive restoration and enhancement of the original Langford & Moreau course at Blythefield Country Club in Belmont, MI in preparation for the 2021 Meijer LPGA Classic.
Wilczynski will implement a plan to realign and improve strategic placement of the course's bunkers for better shot values and aesthetics and will also revitalize the course's fairway and greenside bunkers with the advanced Better Billy Bunker lining system. Plans also call for expanding greens and realigning fairways to enhance playability and the course's overall look.
Behind the scenes, improved drainage systems will be installed. Expansive tree projects will be ongoing, and a plan to adjust mowing patterns, for top conditions year-round, will be put in place.
Clubhouse construction will begin in the fall of 2025, with golf course renovations set to commence in 2026. Bobby Jones Links will continue to oversee management of the member-owned club through the construction phases and beyond.
In all, these enhancements will make Travis Pointe Country Club one of the most attractive membership offerings in the region with top-tier amenities for all ages. The club expects welcomes an influx of inquiries from prospective members interested in joining a thriving community that enjoys unparalleled club facilities and a welcoming, friendly, and robust membership.

Brian Weis is the mastermind behind GolfTrips.com, a vast network of golf travel and directory sites covering everything from the rolling fairways of Wisconsin to the sunbaked desert layouts of Arizona. If there’s a golf destination worth visiting, chances are, Brian has written about it, played it, or at the very least, found a way to justify a "business trip" there.
As a card-carrying member of the Golf Writers Association of America (GWAA), International Network of Golf (ING), Golf Travel Writers of America (GTWA), International Golf Travel Writers Association (IGTWA), and The Society of Hickory Golfers (SoHG), Brian has the credentials to prove that talking about golf is his full-time job. In 2016, his peers even handed him The Shaheen Cup, a prestigious award in golf travel writing—essentially the Masters green jacket for guys who don’t hit the range but still know where the best 19th holes are.
Brian’s love for golf goes way back. As a kid, he competed in junior and high school golf, only to realize that his dreams of a college golf scholarship had about the same odds as a 30-handicap making a hole-in-one. Instead, he took the more practical route—working on the West Bend Country Club grounds crew to fund his University of Wisconsin education. Little did he know that mowing greens and fixing divots would one day lead to a career writing about the best courses on the planet.
In 2004, Brian turned his golf passion into a business, launching GolfWisconsin.com. Three years later, he expanded his vision, and GolfTrips.com was born—a one-stop shop for golf travel junkies looking for their next tee time. Today, his empire spans all 50 states, and 20+ international destinations.
On the course, Brian is a weekend warrior who oscillates between a 5 and 9 handicap, depending on how much he's been traveling (or how generous he’s feeling with his scorecard). His signature move" A high, soft fade that his playing partners affectionately (or not-so-affectionately) call "The Weis Slice." But when he catches one clean, his 300+ yard drives remind everyone that while he may write about golf for a living, he can still send a ball into the next zip code with the best of them.
Whether he’s hunting down the best public courses, digging up hidden gems, or simply outdriving his buddies, Brian Weis is living proof that golf is more than a game—it’s a way of life.
